Redtail appointed ingenie exclusive provider of hardwired telematics devices, connectivity and data as part of ingenie’s young driver insurance offering
Cambridge, 2oth July 2020. Leading Telematics Service Provider Redtail Telematics has signed a new agreement with UK insurance pioneer ingenie as an extension of its supplier arrangement of its professionally installed telematics box, extending the relationship that has existed since ingenie launched in 2011.
Redtail Telematics will continue to exclusively provide ingenie with hardwired telematics devices, complete with full connectivity and data. As part of its suite of telematics solutions, this technology allows ingenie to deliver best-in-class driver coaching and claims management solutions. Further, it underlines Redtail’s position as a significant player in the UBI market, supplying devices for over one-fifth of all UK telematic policies (BIBA figures).
Redtail CEO Dr Colin Smithers said “We are delighted that once again ingenie has appointed Redtail Telematics to provide the technology to support ingenie’s young driver hard wired fitted box insurance solution. Our hardwired devices and robust data capture technology ensures that ingenie has the most reliable technology to help support their continued growth.”
ingenie’s CEO Selim Cavanagh commented: “Redtail Telematics has been a valued partner since we created the market for specialist young driver insurance and the new agreement represents a further endorsement of the technology and support that we have received from Redtail Telematics since we launched in 2011.”
Corona virus and your battery
Coronavirus and your Battery
Redtail Telematics does black box tracking of cars for fleets and insurance and to help drivers drive better. But Redtail’s clever black box can do other things as well. Right now, while your car is on its drive going nowhere fast it can monitor the state of your battery and warn you that it is time to run your engine or put your battery on charge, before it’s too late and you have to call out roadside assistance.
Redtail have studied the battery voltages required to start a car reliably and reprogrammed their black boxes in situ so that they send battery status information to their data warehouse. In turn this information is translated into alerts that can be pushed out to the vehicle owner by email or SMS.
Redtail’s Red-Amber-Green system can be viewed at any time in the Redtail apps, and the Red state can be set to trigger an alert. Keeping the battery in the green state will also lengthen its service life.
Dr Colin Smithers, Redtail CEO said “Redtail is a one stop shop Telematics company serving insurance, fleet and OEM customers, and so it is easy for us to re-program our boxes over the air and modify the data warehouse functionality to create these custom alerts, and all done 100% remotely from our homes”
